Art Deco Ice Skater Figure Attributed to Josef Lorenzl 1930 Awarded to G Braid of the Dundee Tigers & Original John R Mason Artwork Beautifully detailed and crafted Art Deco male ice skater figure in silvered spelter dating to the 1930's. Unsigned but universally attributed to Josef Lorenzl. From any angle he gracefully poses a movement. Small signs indicating his age. Stands on a shaped alabaster plinth. PLUS, original caricature artwork featuring Glen Braid and the Dundee Tigers drawn by John R Mason who also illustrated for British comic magazine The Dandy. The first Dundee Tigers team was founded in 1938. The Tigers played in the Scottish National League from 1946 to 1954, and in the British National League in 1954-55. The team was based at Kingsway Rink, and wore a blue, red and white strip. The Tigers won the Scottish National League in 1938-39, 1939-40 and 1948-49. The original Tigers last played in 1955.
