Sydney Smith The Champion Cue 1947-48-49 PLUS Vintage Snooker Cue in Original Metal Cue Case PLUS an Ormes & Sons, Manchester Metal Snooker Cue Case (empty) Hand Spliced Sydney Smith cue made with Ash shaft & Butt made up of alternate splices of Rosewood & Ebony. Front & rear splices in Ebony & the 2 side splices in Rosewood. Lower front facing humbug splice made from Maple with lines of Ebony running through the splice. This cue was made to commemorate Sidney Smith's victory in the United Kingdom Billiards Championships in 1947-1948 & 1949. Sidney Smith (26 March 1908 - 26 June 1990) was a professional billiards and snooker player from the 1930s to the 1950s. He was born in Killamarsh, Derbyshire, England. He was the first player to make a total clearance in snooker competition, a break of 133 on 11 December 1936 in the Daily Mail Gold Cup.
