Circle of John Crome (1768-1821) founder of the Norwich School of painters. Large East Anglian boards oil on canvas of two fishermen in front of rural cottage with mill in the background, in gesso frame (The picture has recently been fully professionally cleaned). The Norwich school of artist were much influenced by the fashionable Dutch artist of the 17th and 18th centuries such as Hobbema and Ruisdael. The Norwich School was founded in 1803 by John Crome and Robert Ladbrooke and is widely recognised as being the first provincial art movement in Britain, Crome himself would later become friends with and influence the works of artists such as John Sell Cotman, John Constable, J M W Turner to name just a few. 74 x 62cm total size
